College Prep courses are offered and encouraged for high school students.  Dual credit courses are offered through Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas and are transferable to most major universities.  Clubs and organizations include the MAIS Honor Society, Student Council, Christian Club, Yearbook Staff, Library Club, and Fire Marshalls.  High school students have the opportunity to compete with students from other high schools in a number of events including the Math-Science Competition, Quiz Bowl, and Science Fair.  Students who excel in academics and sports are recognized the the Scholar-Athlete award.  The seniors are selected each year as Wendy's Heisman nominees and go on to compete as semi-state and state finalist.  The average ACT score of DeSoto students is 22.  A total of 95 percent DeSoto graduates enter college.  Legacy seniors and honor graduates are announced each year at graduation.   Mrs. Lyn Toney serves as the Dean of Students for grades 9 - 12.
